Primarily known as a swimsuit model, a fierce television personality and the wife of rapper-actor Ice-T, Coco Austin has cemented herself as one of the most prominent sexy stars in Hollywood. Her sheer charisma and sex appeal are one of her most prominent features.
Throughout her career, Austin has been subjected to various controversies and criticisms surrounding her parenting techniques regarding her daughter, Chanel.
Formally known as Nicole Natalie Marrow-Austin, the actress has been married to American rapper Ice-T since the early 2000s. Fast forward to more than a decade later in 2015, the star couple had their first child together, Chanel Nicole, who turned 7 at the end of November 2022. The scrutiny and criticism surrounding Chanel Nicole and her mother came about back in September 2019 when Austin posted a picture of her still breastfeeding her 3-year-old daughter at the time.
Aside from questioning her parenting practices, people online have also taken the time to comment on how Austin presents herself at her age. At 44, Austin is unapologetically confident in her choice of clothing, some even point out that it is too racy for her age, considering she is a mother of a young girl.
In a photo that she posted to commemorate the Fourth of July in 2023, Austin was again under fire from her detractors on Instagram as she posted perhaps her spiciest and “raciest” photo so far. Unbeknownst to many, Austin catapulted into fame and popularity when she started becoming a swimsuit, lingerie and body model for calendars, catalogs and even videos at the young age of 19. She appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s Swimwear Issue in 1997 and was even crowned at the 1998 Miss Ujena contest in Mexico.
Most notably, Austin began appearing in R-rated films back in the day. Specifically in “Southwest Babes,” “Desert Rose” and “The Dirty Monks,” to name a few. Aside from that, Austin has been living away from the spotlight, but she maintains a loyal following on Instagram where she regularly posts sexy photos of herself.
In 2019, Austin posted a picture of herself breastfeeding her then-3-year-old kid, Chanel. People were surprised to see Austin with the rather questionable practice.
In the interview with US Weekly, Coco explained her decision to continue breastfeeding her child.“Chanel still likes my boobs. It’s a big bonding moment for a mother and your child. Why take that away from her? … If she doesn’t want it, all right, that’s where you stop it. But I’m not just going to say no,” she said at the time.
On the other hand, Ice-T echoed support for his wife and daughter following the backlash they amassed. “News Flash! We feed Chanel FOOD… She just likes to suck moms boob every now and then… Me Too!!!” he quipped.
Aside from the controversy of breastfeeding Chanel, the couple was also criticized heavily for letting their kid have artificial nails at a young age, bathing only when she feels “icky,” and even having her sleep on their bed at night.
In July 2023, Austin was the subject of another debate online, and whether her choice of clothing was appropriate for someone who is already a mother.
