Lenny Kravitz is one of the most prominent musicians and rock icons worldwide. After winning Grammy Awards for Best Rock Vocal Performance for four consecutive years, he really made a mark in the music industry and on the entertainment scene, and as an actor too.
But apart from his snazzy and eclectic hard rock façade lies a very thoughtful and loving father to actress Zoë Kravitz. Just from their striking resemblance alone, many would agree that the two of them really came from the same block.
Like many other celebrity babies, Zoë was already born in the spotlight. As it was around the time that Lenny’s career was picking up that he had a daughter with his then-wife, Lisa Bonet.
Speaking to Piers Morgan in 2012, Lenny opened up about how at one point in his career, he would just go on and smoke weed all day long. Eventually, the smoking stopped, and he became sober when Zoë, at eleven years old, lived with him in the same household – unknowingly that it was the start of what would become one of the most adorable father-daughter relationships in Hollywood.
Just as how Lenny spoke highly of her daughter Zoë on many occasions in many interviews, the feeling was also mutual as she has always been open about her very close relationship with his father.
In an interview with People Magazine, Lenny explained how his tight yet very open relationship with his daughter became instrumental in keeping Bonet still a part of their family, despite them divorcing and the latter having a family of her own.

Lenny was one of the biggest musicians in the world from the early 1980s until today, he was born on May 26, 1964, to NBC television news producer Sy Kravitz and trailblazing Black actress Roxie Roker in New York.
He is a man of many musical talents, working as a singer, songwriter, record producer, and instrumentalist. On top of that, he is also an actor. Some of his hits include “It Ain’t Over ’til It’s Over,” “Are You Gonna Go My Way,” and “American Woman.”
Lenny’s most popular relationship was his marriage to actress Bonet. The two were close friends for a few years prior to starting their relationship in 1985. They eloped to Las Vegas in November 1987 on Bonet’s 20th birthday and welcomed a daughter, Zoë, in Dec. 1988. However, Lenny and Bonet divorced in 1993.
Afterward, Lenny went on to date a few more women after Bonet, including Vanessa Paradis, Adriana Lima, and even Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman. He was engaged both with Lima and Kidman, but things came to an end in both relationships.
Even though Lenny had his own pursuit of happiness, he hasn’t taken off any time away from his daughter, Zoë, whom he talks to very dearly every time she is brought up.
Talking to “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah,” Lenny revealed that it was his mother’s relationship with his grandfather that inspired him to become the father that he is today.
“They had the relationship that Zoë and I have, so I was witness to that. They were so tight, so close, they were father and daughter, they were best friends,” he told Noah.
While the two share a strong bond with each other, Lenny publicly expressed his ways of keeping Zoë’s mother, Bonet, in the picture.

Bonet and Lenny divorced in 1993, four years after Zoë’s birth in 1988. But unlike other celebrity couples, the two divorced amicably and have not gotten away from their shared responsibility for their daughter’s growth.
Speaking to People Magazine, Lenny reveals a secret to his tight relationship with his daughter: “Zoë and I have a very open dialogue. We can talk about anything and everything.”
Elsewhere in the interview, the rock legend was asked about the importance of keeping Bonet and Zoë’s relationship with each other growing up.
“It’s essential. We have a child, and we love each other just as much as before — it’s just a different situation. It takes time, work and dedication, but that is something that the two of us had,” he told the magazine.
Interestingly, Lenny and Bonet’s new husband, Jason Momoa, have been public about their close relationship as friends, stemming from their first interaction in 2013.
Lenny described to The Times that his current family setup is “blended” following his divorce from Bonet and friendship with Momoa.
Speaking more to Oprah Winfrey in her “Masterclass” series, Lenny elaborated how the rather complicated setup for many eventually worked out for them in the long run.
“Zoë’s mom and I now are best friends. When we’re all together now — her man, her kids, Zoë, me — we’re all together and we’re one big, happy family. It’s beautiful and it just shows you what can be done.”
Last January 2022, Momoa and Bonet also divorced amicably but have remained co-parenting their two children, along with Lenny.
Zoë, on his father’s Instagram post last March 2022, commented: “Well isn’t this just adorable. love you both so much” as both Lenny and Momoa posed in a photo together on their motorbikes with the caption: “Ride or die. Brothers for life.”
